...to Dalton Country Guest House in a corner of Cumbria which is as yet little known but soon to be accorded the appreciation it so rightly deserves.
Dalton Guest House has been awarded three stars by Visit Britain and has numerous contented guests that return year after year to enjoy a welcome break in a spot where they really feel "far from the madding crowd". They often comment on our warm hospitality, the high quality of what we offer, and the tremendous value for money that it represents. We have been running the guest house now for 12 years and pride ourselves on maintaining the high standards that mean so much to our guests.
This is a layout for a home page that enables you to give visitors a look at the most important things you want to let them know about - things that will be explained in more detail when people click the "Read more..." link at the bottom of the cell. The other pages in the site will have a simpler layout with only one or two columns and a header (and perhaps a footer). The colour scheme and the graphics used will be retained throughout the site so that there is a uniform "look".
If your business is a guest house, you might use the column on the left to introduce the rooms very briefly, and then use the middle column to highlight the second most important aspect of the business - perhaps the breakfasts or meals more generally. On the home page the text in these three cells should be roughly equal.
In each column it would also be a good idea to include a thumbnail photo.
There may be a third area you want to highlight. For guest houses and other holiday accommodation providers it might be the attractions of the location. Here you could introduce the theme and then link to a page that gives ample details of the wealth of attractions in the vicinity.
When there are other sites with (perhaps official) information and details of each attraction it is a good idea to link to them in your text. This will be of help to visitors.
